I love sickenly sweet stories and simple, “ordinary” people. We grow up with television and society telling us that proposals have to be some kind of stunt more than a sentiment. That it has to be extravagant, very formal, and in front of as many people as possible. My engagement now over a year ago was simple, very personal and very private. It was the day before my birthday, and Neil planned a dinner out at our favorite Thai place. He took me shopping and I bought a new outfit which I wore to dinner. We had a gorgeous candlelit Tha dinner, and Irish mint coffee at the shop up the street before driving home in the cool spring air. I thought he might propose at dinner, and when he didn’t I was somewhat dissapointed,…enough to be just a tad whiny and sulky. I walked ahead of him as we headed to our apartment, and when we got inside he asked if he might talk to me for a min. The rest is really a blur. I remember him saying how much he loved me and …then he was on one knee and proposing, right there in the middle of our new apartment living room. It is still one of the greatest moments of my life, but I know we have so much more live to live yet.
In any sense, if you like sweet, simple stories of people getting engaged, head over to Posie Gets Cozy.
