My mind can not wrap around how different life is from this day last year. It was a year ago yesterday that we found out we were pregnant with Kaitlan. Pregnancy is a long process, but when you think about the fact that we’re here a year later with a complete and thriving little person. I just can’t even.
So needless to say, 2014 was big. We created a human, survived a storm, raced the car, did CrossFit, and had many more amazing times that I won’t begin to list out. Every year gets better, and I have an inkling 2015 will be no different.
Neil hopes to get his NASA racing license this year, and is already well on his way. I bought him little stickers of all the tracks he’s been to, and he hopes to add a few more. He’s also looking to do some professional certifications (like the CCNA) and development work.
I’m hoping to put some serious work towards professional certifications as well. Since I changed departments a month before giving birth, I’m eager to prove myself and kind of carve out my role in my new department. I’d also like to do another CrossFit certification, but I can’t decide which. Maybe Level 2?
We’re going to be doing some major yard clean-up this spring. Because the storm happened a month before Kaitlan was born, we still have all the stumps sticking out of the ground. They need to be removed, and we need to replant. At least we have no more trees to lose should we get another storm.
But it isn’t all work. We really hope to get Kaitlan out and about on some starter hikes and hope to take her on her first camping trip to Colorado this summer. We are also beyond excited to start her on solids in the next month or so. I’ve begun pouring over language development books and can’t wait to start teaching her signs and words. Did you know babies form 700 neural connections per second in the first years of their lives? No pressure.
So cheers to the end of 2014 and welcome 2015! What’s on your agenda?
