New addition to the family – Clive

Clive

Meet Clive!

He is a 2 year-old Boston Terrier that was abandoned by his previous owner, and we quickly snatched him up from the local Humane Society. The background on his name is that the previous owner had named him “Clyde,” which we were really not a fan of, however we wanted to keep the name similar because he does mind and come to that name.

Jes has been dreaming of a Boston Terrier for the better part of 12 months so I set up an auto-notification on Petfinder.com to send me all new Boston Terrier listings in the area. Just this Tuesday, Clive popped up and we went and got him the same day! We were glad we did because there were 2 other couples considering him and the Humane Society said that Bostons usually don’t last any more than a couple days in their care until they are adopted.

He is getting used to the house so far, and we are teaching, or re-teaching him crate training. He had to be neutered so he is still a little sore and tired, but he already seems to have lots of energy and a really good cheer about him.

How are the cats you ask? Well Felix is definitely interested in the new family member, but still quite cautious. Libby on the other hand is still in full hide/keep-your-distance mode. She will take longer to warm up to him or anyone. We think this will be temporary.

Stay tuned for more Clive and Boston funness!

    He’s definitely adorable! Weird tid bit: My grandfather’s name was Clyde and my grandmother used to have Boston Terriers! Your photos make me want to adopt one…but that definitely isn’t going to happen anytime soon. Good luck!

    Lol, that is a crazy coincidence. I had always dreamed of naming him something brilliant or witty, but he knows his name, and after all that he is been through I don’t want to take that away from him. Besides, it does sound dapper, and it fits him.

    If you ever do adopt, Boston’s definitely are a good choice. They’re small without feeling delicate or breakable, and their short coats are easy to care for. They are very smart and easy to train too. He already shakes, and knows when no is NO.

    I heard rumors of a dog in your life! Yay! I ‘ll have to get over there and see him soon! I can’t believe that felix is mostly ok with him, that’s great though!

    What a cutie! Though I have to admit, I do like his original name of Clyde. It’s one of my cat’s names. 😀

    @Blake, Neil will be home all weekend (I’m going to MN for Anja’s bachelorette) so feel free to come hang out. It looks like it might rain, so you might get some quality WoW time in.

    @Rach, I am too. He’s so playful…when he’s not passed out.

    @Kristi, We didn’t hate the name, but we wanted to put our own spin on it. I’m so glad to see another person who has more than one pet. People keep calling us The Doolittles.
